White to move. How do you assess this position? How should White proceed? This was an actual game between 2 strong masters.

Features All Players Rated above FIDE 2700 Right Now!
The Live Top List is an unofficial chess rating list that intends to cover all players with a current, live rating above 2700 in the FIDE rating system. The official FIDE list is published 4 times each year, while this list is updated and published as games and tournaments are being played, typically with daily updates during tournaments featuring top players. The list is maintained by Hans Arild Runde. Thanks to everyone giving feedback and input. NB! This page has got a new permanent home here at chess.liverating.org - please update your links/bookmarks, as the previous url will only keep working for a limited period of time.

To check whether an event is rated, see the list of rated events in the current rating period.

In a Live Top List, rating changes and number of games & events rated are relative to the official FIDE list at the time the specific Live Top List is published. Lists published in May and June are relative to the April list, lists published in July, August and September are relative to the July list, and so on.

Note: The functionality of the Live Top List is being extended - the most recent addition is that of a simple graph (bar) view, showing player ratings (in points above 2700) in addition to average for the top 10 and all of the 2700+ players. I intend to add at least one more bar view with more details about the top 10, and probably also some additional brush ups, like caching of the generated graphs. Currently everything is done on the fly, which is sort of nice, but a bit slow and might represent some strain on the web server during peak hours.

I don't have too much time to spend for this project, but I've (still) got more ideas for improvements and additions, and hopefully I'll get around to implementing even more of them soon - but don't hold your breath! Please do check back for rating updates, as those will take place quite regularly.

* = Based on results and pgn-files from this event, it seems that the game Sakaev-Bu (round 11) erroneously has been reported to and rated by FIDE as a win for Bu, while every other source I've seen report the game as a draw. (See the pgn of the game)

** = FIDE seems to have rated rapid (?) games from this event. Based on the results I've seen reported, and the fact (?) that one game in each match in the Chinese league is played as rapid chess, the rating reports from the two first legs of the Chinese league appear to also contain rapid games, which shouldn't be rated. Of the players in the current top list, this affects the rating of Wang Yue, Bu and Ni. Of course, there might be a misunderstanding on my part here, in which case I'll return with a correction if that gets confirmed.

Calculation corrections:
May 30th: Dominguez -0,4 points (Capablanca Memorial adjusted)
May 30th: Jakovenko -0,2 points (Russian Team Champs adjusted)
May 30th: Svidler +0,1 points (Baku GP adjusted)
