WORLD YOUTH CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010

1. Invitation / Dates
This is the official invitation to all national chess federations by FIDE, the Greek Chess
Federation, SO Athens Chess Club and the Technical Olympic group of companies for
participation in the 2010 World Youth Chess Championships (under 8, under 10, under 12, under
14, under 16 & under 18) which will be held in the 5-star resort of Porto Carras in Halkidiki from
19 October (arrival) to 31 October (departure).
2. Participation
2.1 Each National Federation can enter one (1) player in each of the under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and
18 (boys and girls) categories, totalling a maximum of twelve (12) guest players.
2.2 Players with a personal right, according to FIDE rules, will also be accepted as guest players.
2.3 Additional (extra) players can also be registered.
2.4 In order to ensure proper tournament standards, all guest players and all additional (extra)
players must submit their registrations through their national federations until August 20, 2010
(registration deadline).
3. FIDE entry fees
3.1 In accordance with FIDE regulations an entry fee of 70 € (euros) is required for each guest
player. This amount must be sent directly to FIDE by their National Federation before the event.
3.2 In accordance with FIDE regulations an entry fee of 140 € (euros) is required for each
additional (extra) player. This amount must also be sent directly to FIDE by their National
Federation before the event.
4. Registration and Travel conditions
4.1 Entry forms must be filled from the National Federations and returned to the Organising
Committee not later than August 20, 2010. This date is the registration deadline. All federations
are kindly requested to use the form provided by the organisers.
4.2 The complete registration form must include the surname/s, first name/s, FIDE ID number,
FIDE rating and title, and passport number of each player and each accompanying person. It
must also include the name and telephone/e-mail/fax number of the Delegation chief and of the
person in charge in the Federation.
4.3 All travel expenses must be paid by the participants or their National Federation.
4.4 Every player (guest, additional or by personal right) and every accompanying person has to
pay an organising fee of 100 € (euros) at the moment of their registration (until August 20,
2010). This payment is obligatory for all and its prepayment represents a confirmation for their
participation.
4.5 The above amount of 100 EUR includes registration badges and bus transport from
Thessaloniki airport to the tournament hotel (19 October) with return on the departure day (31
October).
4.6 At the moment of registration (until 20 August) the above amount of 100 EUR must be
transferred, free of any bank charges, to the following bank account of the event agency:

4.7 Once the transfer has been confirmed, the Organising Committee will send to the Chess
Federation the assigned booking confirmation for all the hotel reservations.
4.8 Players will not be paired until all payments of their federation have been fulfilled.
5. Hotel - Playing Hall
5.1 Accommodation and full board will be provided in the Porto Carras resort, a 5-star hotel
complex leased by the Organising Committee, which will also be the tournament venue. The
playing hall's capacity will be for 1500 players.
5.2 Free accomodation and full board will be provided to the guest players as well as to one (1)
coach per federation from the 19th of October (lunch) to the 31st of October (breakfast). Guest
participants and coaches will be accommodated in double and/or triple rooms.
5.3 Every participant accepted as additional (extra) player and all accompanying persons are
obliged to lodge at the Porto Carras resort, which will also be the tournament venue.
5.4 Hotel payments for all extra players and accompanying persons must be made 50% by the
registration deadline of 20 August and the rest 50% before the event starts. All payments must
be made in euros (€). No future payments of hotel bills will be accepted.
5.5 Lodging for additional extra players and accompanying persons will cost (upon availability):
a. in triple rooms: 59 EUR per person per day, full board included,
b. in double rooms: 68 EUR per person per day, full board included,
c. in single rooms: 89 EUR per person per day, full board included.

7. Rules and regulations
The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System in 11 rounds. National ratings will
not be taken into consideration for the pairings.
Rate of play will be, according to FIDE regulations: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed
by 30 minutes for the rest of the game, with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from
move one.
An Appeals Committee of 3 members and 2 reserves will be appointed at the Technical Meeting.
All other regulations apply as per FIDE Handbook.
8. Tournament bulletin
Each federation is entitled to one free bulletin per round. Additional bulletins will be on sale.
